Margaret Cho's new stand up show features her trademark raunchy, socially relevant and politically-charged comedy, and offers a unique chance to see her perform a handful of songs from her new comedy music album, Cho Dependent. In the spirit of Cho's diverse identity and equally diverse career, Cho Dependent features her burgeoning foray into the realm of comedy music. Peppered throughout her brand new stand up show, Cho will be showcasing a few songs from her forthcoming Cho Dependent album (to be released on August 24th) which features collaborations with Tegan & Sara, Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird, Jon Brion, Grant Lee Phillips, and more. Margaret Cho has built a cult following through tours, concert films and TV specials. She started performing stand-up at age 16 and soon after, she won a comedy contest to open for Jerry Seinfeld. In her early twenties, Cho hit the college circuit, where she immediately became the most booked act in the market. Arsenio Hall introduced her to late night audiences, Bob Hope put her on a prime time special, and Margaret Cho became an overnight sensation. Since then she's toured to sold-out crowds, starred in a one woman show off Broadway, written two books and a feature film. Her fifth stand up concert film, Beautiful, is now available on Showtime and DVD, and Cho is starring in the new dramatic series, Drop Dead Diva, the second season coming this June on Lifetime.
